BEIJING (AFX) - A senior Beijing city official has denied reported plans to build a Disney theme park in the next five years, the South China Post reported.
Lu Yingchuan , a deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, yesterday said a commission document stating that the city planned to bring enterprises, including Disney, to the National New Media Base in the Daxing district by 2010 had been wrongly interpreted, the report said.
'It is simply a misunderstanding,' he said at a briefing on the capital's development plan for the next five years. 'What we actually meant is to introduce Disney's production and design of films, television and animation, rather than building a theme park.'
