Walt Disney Co. faces calls from Hong Kong lawmakers to reveal attendance and earnings figures, after missing its first-year target of 5.6 million visitors.

The park, in which the city's government invested $2.2 billion, said last week it had hosted about 5 million customers. Group Managing Director Bill Ernest refused to give precise figures, saying the park is on a "solid financial footing".

Disney, the world's largest theme-park operator, is seeking to rebuild its image in Hong Kong after a series of problems including a mistimed ticket promotion that forced it to turn away thousands of guests during last year's Lunar New Year holiday.
