Walt Disney World Resort - Disney World theme parks reopen after passage of Hurricane Wilma
Wednesday, October 26 2005 at 10:45
The Walt Disney World Resort theme parks reopened today, Tuesday, October 25, following the passage of Hurricane Wilma.
Hurricane Wilma stormed its way through Southwest Florida but spared the Walt Disney World Resort from massive damage. The resort had closed all of its theme parks, water parks, and entertainment areas outside of its hotels on Monday in preparation.
However, Disney World officials were confident after consultation with emergency and hurricane officials that Hurricane Wilma would not cause a safety problem for resort guests or create significant damage, and the Magic Kingdom and Epcot theme parks were reopened on Monday at 3 p.m. despite having been closed earlier in the day.
